Ontario Street east continues to transform into one of the most promising thoroughfares in Montreal. Arte & Farina, a new Italian bakery located in Ville-Marie east is one of the area’s latest additions that elevates the neighbourhood’s cultural cache.
Open since last autumn, the bakery, which is nestled on Ontario Street between the Plateau and the Village, has quickly grown in popularity with local residence and visitors alike. They’ve made a name for themselves by crafting quality baked goods, in-house, from traditional Italian recipes. Their biggest draw to date has been their panettone which garnered over 2000 orders, only one month after opening for business. Their dedication to getting it right continues to draw crowds.
At a media presentation last month we sampled several items that they prepare for their customers on a regular basis. Wonderful pizzas topped with fresh ingredients, delicious traditional supplì stuffed with savoury pesto (image below), amazing, sugar-covered desserts and much more. We each took home a selection of products to try, including a delicious traditional Easter colomba (a dove shaped panettone type cake) that allowed us to understand why they had orders for over 2000 cakes over the holidays.
Arte & Farina is a wonderful addition to the neighbourhood and whether you are looking to satiate your hunger for something savoury or sweet, on either a small or even slightly larger scale for a crowd, this little Italian bakery is up to the task.
