With the Four Seasons Hotel Montreal on the cusp of opening its doors, excitement surrounding the hotel is at an all time high. While we’ve seen renderings of various spaces located within the hotel’s walls, no one has actually laid their eyes on anything other that the magnificent exterior – until now.
Last week I was among the lucky few to get a first glimpse at Marcus, the hotel’s gorgeous restaurant and bar located on the hotels 3rd floor. The sneak peek gave us a look at the restaurants digs while introducing us to the team who’ve come together to create a truly unique experience and of course, we got a taste of what’s to come out of the kitchen.
Touted as a new-concept brasserie, Marcus is intended to be more than just another restaurant. It’s a space eager to bring together visitors and locals alike to connect and ignite creativity. Award winning chef, Marcus Samuelsson, leads a team of passionate and approachable individuals who drive the restaurants goal of creating a space that’s inclusive for all who enter. Samuelsson is big on giving back to the community and once it opens, Marcus will be teamed up with DESTA, an organization focused on supporting black youth in reaching their educational, employability and entrepreneurial goals.
Marcus was designed by Atelier Zebulon Perron, the group responsible for creating some of Montreal’s most cutting edge restaurants. Using noble materials such as marble, wood and metals, the restaurant is luxuriously designed – from the jaw dropping dining room, all the way out the terrasse that overlooks Montreal. Expect this terrasse to be in high demand all summer long.
The VIP event gave us a glimpse into the restaurant’s sprawling kitchen and allowed us a taste of what’s to come. Marcus will focus on fresh local seafood, seasonal vegetables and more. We sampled a series of canapés that stimulated our tastebuds and left us hungry for more. I can’t wait to see what’s to come.
The Four Seasons Hotel Montreal and Marcus are expected to open on May 8, 2019.
