High atop Newtown, on the corner of Crescent and Maisonneuve, we find Le Balcon, a bright and spacious rooftop terrasse with a million dollar view of downtown Montreal. We were present last Friday evening during Le Balcon’s highly anticipated big opening night and we were not disappointed.
Lawrence Picard has done it again with a menu of audaciously flavourful cocktails that kept us buzzing throughout the night. The concoctions ranged from sweet (a delicious Frozen Spiced Tea made with spiced rhum, lemon juice and iced tea) to sour (amazing Frozen Lemonade and Frozen Cherry Popper) and were super cooled with dry ice to ensure a cold drink right to the last sip. Throughout the night canapés such as sliders, tempura shrimp and bruschetta rolled out of the kitchen on wooden planks to keep us snacking all evening long.
The jaw dropping view of the city from Le Balcon was spectacular and quite unique. It’s the kind of thing you wish you could always be seeing for the first time, though I could be biased. I love Montreal from any angle and seeing it from my perch at Le Balcon was worth the climb.
Enjoy!
