For the past 33 years Montreal’s International Jazz Festival has gathered some of the genre’s (as well as some Jazz adjacent genres) most talented musicians for 10 days of fantastic musical perfomances and this year promises to be no different. From June 28th to July 7th, the 34th edition of the festival welcomes such artists as Pink Martini, Holly Cole, Serena Ryder, She and Him (new album is amazing!), Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings and many, many, many more!
Participating in the grand opening festivities this year is Canadian indie darling, Feist. Feist recently holographically (if it wasn’t a word, it is now!) performed in three Canadian cities (Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver) simultaneously as part of a cell-phone launch and in doing so, she has set the bar pretty high for herself for wowing the crowd. Also performing as part of this year’s festival is local favorite, DJ Champion and his G-Strings. This one is a bit of a trombone stretch but it is still a fathomable choice.
